Reading outside of my comfort zone

I had a brilliant time in Fremantle at the Romance Writers of Australia annual conference catching up with friends, writers and doing lots of learning.

I caught up with Shona Husk and had to admit I wasn’t a fan of paranormal romance and preferred contemporary women’s fiction/ category romance.

But after chatting and hearing about the Goblin stories she’s created I was curious. So I downloaded her free prequel – The SummonsΒ and started reading it on the train this morning. So engrossed in my reading, I almost missed my station. Thanks Shona for a great read – yes, Goblins are great and I’ll be buying The Goblin King πŸ™‚

So, I’ve been proven wrong and happily discovered that I do like paranormal. So have you read anything outside of your comfort zone?

Book club reads and RWA13 in Freo

Well we all enjoyed last month’s books and Anna Campbell’s historical was a hit so we chose “A Rake’s Midnight Kiss”, the next book in the series.

Here’s this month’s reads Β –

Hindsight by Sarah Belle

Imprisoned by a Vow by Annie West

A Rake’s Midnight Kiss by Anna Campbell

I haven’t told anyone we’re reading Mills and Boons but since Annie West writes such great alpha heroes I don’t think they’ll notice….or care πŸ˜‰

So what are you reading this month?

I’m flying to Fremantle tomorrow for the Romance Writers of Australia (RWA) annual conference. I can’t wait to see my CPs and writing buddies. This is such a wonderful opportunity to learn and chat with like-minded writers πŸ™‚

I pressed “send”

Good news, I finished and polished my manuscript!!!! It’s been sent to the Publisher and they’ve acknowledged receipt! Now the nail biting wait begins!

Wish me luck πŸ™‚
